Orphan re-unification project

Imbabazi supports the Rwandan government’s objective to reintroduce orphans into the community.

As a result, we have implemented a re-unification project to identify practical and secure family environments in which children can be placed. In some cases, children have distant relatives with whom they can be re-united. In cases where no relatives are found, we investigate possibilities for surrogate family assimilation.

In all of these instances, we have qualified staff members who visit families before, during and after re-unification to ensure living conditions are safe and satisfactory and that the child is adjusting well. We only place children in secure situations where they will benefit from being with a family and living in the community.

Upon re-unification, Imbabazi continues to support their educational and other small needs and provides temporary financial assistance to the family as they take on this additional responsibility.
