There have been many changes happening this past year, and most recently we said our Goodbyes to longtime volunteer, dear friend, and most recent Director of Imbabazi, Ashley Burke.

Ashley joined the family as a Peace Corps volunteer and was an active role in many of the exciting changes we have on the horizon.  She was extremely passionate about keeping Roz’s traditions alive, and although she has left this position, her heart will remain here forever.

Ashley, you will be Greatly missed and we wish you the best of luck in your next adventures!!

and a cheery WELCOME!

Ashley handed the baton over and we now excitedly welcome Graeme Loten to the team as our new Executive Director!!  A former British diplomat, Graeme has a long experience of Rwanda and other African countries and served as his country’s Ambassador in both Rwanda and Burundi for the period 1998-2001. Later he worked as a volunteer for the Anglican Church in Rwanda, based in Cyangugu. Graeme also knows Imbabazi well, having met Roz Carr on several occasions in the period 1998-2000 when both she and the Imbabazi Orphanage were based in Gisenyi. For the past few years Graeme has worked with various NGOs in Africa but is delighted now to be living and working again in the country which he regards as his second home, Rwanda.

A bittersweet, but truly exciting time, we are greatly looking forward to Graeme’s involvement and direction he’s taking with Imbabazi!  Welcome to the team Graeme!!
