RWANDA

In April 1994, ethnic violence erupted in Rwanda as Hutu extremists systematically murdered as many as 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus in a reign of terror that lasted 100 days. Never before in history has there been an extermination of human life on such a scale in such a short period of time. More than 95,000 children were left lost or orphaned. Sadly, the Rwandan genocide has become the standard by which the world will measure human tragedy forevermore.

Rwanda has come a long way since 1994. While it has struggled to overcome the huge loss of life, Rwanda has made great strides in rebuilding its infrastructure, restoring its economy, and promoting peace, justice and reconciliation among its people. Roz and the Imbabazi are one of the many success stories that symbolize the rebuilding of the nation of Rwanda.
